Sports and Sportsmanship

Sportsmanship is a spirit or an aspiration that an activity or sports enjoyed with proper consideration for ethics, fairness, respect and a sense of companionship with one’s contestant. A sore-loser is one who can not take defeat well, whereas a good sport means if you lose the game or win it, you accept the result.

Sports means the physical activity through this people get fit and stay healthy, skilful, and players also must be committed to fair play. A person usually indulges in sports activities for fun and to get the physical exercise that they need to stay healthy.

Under sports, many people participate in the game. Still, the only one can win, and another is lost. Sports have every time been part of history as an early civilization have also indulged in various sports activities. Cricket is famous all over the world, swimming and so many games are well-known.

Sportsmanship does not mean only to participate, but it means that play with honesty and don’t lose our hope. Through sportsmanship, a person becomes robust, fit and healthy.

A  true sportsman is one who observes all those rules in his life which he has been achieving to find in games. One who has to earn skill or confidence in games but does not apply the provisions of sports in life, in general, does not deserve to be called a sportsman. If a person loses any chance to win, it does not mean he loses his sportsmanship. Usually, those who play games develop into real athletes because their character has moulded by the training they given on the field if any person was doing foul then it also liable for a penalty.

Honesty, fairness, integrity, the openness of heart and frankness – these are the qualities that sportsmanship must display in life. One should not practice continuing, should not bluff, should not cheat to others and should indulge in behaviour or humility.

A sportsman never takes undue benefit of the weakness of another person, nor does he hit below the belt.

Team spirit is the most crucial element of sportsmanship. In games, the various players must cooperate if they wish to win a match. Without mutual co-operation, success is impossible. Integrity consists while working with full harmony with others. In co-operation, indeed lies strength. Wherever a common aim binds several people together, they must display their sportsmanship by using harmoniously, without friction or mutual jealousy. The spirit of sportsmanship demands joyful even in the face of a defeat.

Technological advancement has also played a significant role in sports, and it can apply to sports equipment or the athlete’s health. Due to improvement in sportsmanship in sports, people have become aware of the need for quality equipment for their sports activity with the help of technology, advancement, sports also enhancement.
